Our new toy 2004 GTO

We were able to get a 2004 GTO in July of 2004. What a thrill!!! This car is so much fun to drive. It’s the LS1 with a 6 speed.

We bought a new hood for it through Gravana. When we finally got it, the box it came in was all torn up and broken open. What a disappointment this was. The hood was damaged and the direction said to use the hood struts supplied. Well of course those are missing because the box was all messed up.

It’s been about two weeks and we have sent numerous e-mails and voice mails to RKSport and Gravana. No answer yet! We hope this doesn’t drag on too long because we really want to put this thing on and paint it!!!

We’ll update you as this progresses.

Well we did get the replacement hood. It sure looks good when the corners are actually there. I made the DHL driver sit there and wait while I inspected the hood. He was pretty cool about it after I told him why. He was probably the same driver that left the other hood that was ruined. Man was I excited to get the hood put on, and the intake (K&N) came the same day by UPS!!! I installed the intake with out any problems.

Well here’s the update on the hood ordeal.

We did finally get the replacement hood and we had it painted by CAN-AM CONSTRUCTORS in Scottsdale, Az. They did an amazing job. We decided to put a little ghost flame on the hood coming out of the scoops. They did a light red pearl and it won’t show when you walk up to it but it shows up real nice when you are right at the car.

The Headers went in very smooth. It took a total of one day to do the install. The hardest part was reconnecting the power steering lines to the rack. What a different sound the car has. We stayed with the original mufflers, but someday we may go with some straight glass packs. Everyone uses Turbo mufflers and Borlas, we are going to be a little different.

Here's Melissa doing a test fit on the replacement hood.

Melissa did a good job. Almost like she knew what she was doing..

Shipping Damage.....

This is going to look sweet!!!!!

T-byrne had the headers to us in record time....(SLP LT w/ High flow cats)

Going under the knife

Stock Exhaust

One day later and its all done

Almost done!!!!

And a close up of the flames.....

We were thinking of putting this on but we figure it might take away from the flames.

Its a shame to cover up such a pretty engine...
